Today, it consists of 89 departments, of which 65 are graduating. Over the past 5 years, training has been opened for specialists in 10 new areas of training and specializations, including Consolidated Information, Software Engineering, System Design, Micro and Nanoelectronic Devices and Devices, Human Resources and Economics labor “,” Investment management “,” Chemical technology of food additives and cosmetics “,” Labor protection “,” Commodity research and commercial entrepreneurship “,” Publishing and printing business “.

NTU “KhPI” has a military department, which trains students in 11 military specialties with the assignment of a military rank as junior reserve lieutenant. Training at the military department is carried out on a contract basis. Duration of study – 2 years, starting from the 3rd course.

In NTU “KhPI” there is a two-level system for promoting the employment of graduates. Departments actively maintain contacts with relevant enterprises, tracking their needs. During the training, students undergo practical training at the enterprise in their specialization. Every year in spring, departments invite representatives of enterprises to open presentations of graduates to meet with students of recent courses and conclude tripartite employment contracts, according to which the graduate receives the status of a young specialist. Under the contracts, more than 95% of graduates are employed.

In 2004, the NTU “KhPI” created a Career Center for students. The purpose of the Center is to promote the active selection and search for work by students. The center helps students determine which work best suits their abilities, find information about potential employers and present themselves to the employer (write a resume and prepare for an interview).

The Career Center also provides students with information on current job openings at enterprises. Every year in April, the Career Center invites students and employers to the Job Fair – an event where employers have the opportunity to meet students of different courses and specializations of NTU “KhPI” and offer them vacancies, a place to practice or to spread information about their company. About 100 organizations, enterprises and companies that presented more than 500 vacancies took part in the Polytech-2018 Fair.
