On November 9, the 14th Annual Polytech-2018 Jobs Fair was held at the NTU “KhPI” sports complex.

It featured a record for the past few years – more than 1,200 vacancies for students and graduates.

The fair attracted over two thousand people. The students had the opportunity to get acquainted with the submitted vacancies and offers of employers, to pass vocational guidance tests, as well as to receive assistance in drafting a CV. And of course, everyone could talk to company representatives in a rather informal setting, which is an important feature of the event.

Speaking at the opening of the Fair, the rector of NTU “KhPI” Professor Yevhen Sokil emphasized the relevance of this event: “When an entrant enters a university, he or she focuses mainly on the name of the specialty to which he / she comes or on the recommendation of relatives, friends and relatives. Most often, young people do not understand the requirements that the employer puts forward in order for them to work and build their careers. So today at the Job Fair, they have the opportunity to communicate directly with employers to understand that those disciplines that are embedded in the curriculum are the great experience of teachers who, together with employers, form the future specialist. “

Director of the Department of Science and Education of Kharkiv Regional State Administration Larisa Karpova notes the urgency and necessity of such an event for the region: “I believe that this is already a tradition in the Kharkiv region. The Polytech-2018 Job Fair is a very serious, important, systematic event that is supported by the Governor of Kharkiv region Yulia Svitlichna. Today, as part of one event, we get unity between those who provide jobs and those who want to get them. ”

What are employers looking for at the Job Fair?

According to one of the permanent organizers of the Job Fair “Polytech-2018”, the general sponsor, representative of IT company NIX Solutions Victoria Kovtun, this event is quite important. Meanwhile, the main effect of the event for the company is achieved after a while. “It happens that at the fair we met the guys, told us what to study, read, what to look for, but they come to us in a month or two, sometimes even after six months, and sometimes after graduation.”

Recruitment engineer at the Kharkiv Fed machine-building plant, Anna Surgina, says the company is looking for young professionals: “We need new staff, we are ready to teach everyone, but at least a bachelor’s diploma must be available.”

The National Guard of Ukraine participates in such an event for the first time. A representative of one of the military units of the organization Tamara Soloveniuk told about the terms of service under the contract, noting that the initial salary of the contractor is 8,000 hryvnias.

“We are counting on citizens who want to defend their state with its sovereignty, territorial integrity. We believe that this is very necessary for men, as the military contracted service is very prestigious, ”she emphasized.

KhPI students share their impressions about the Fair:

Denis Barygin, 6th year student of the turbine-building department: “I look for engineering vacancies where I can show myself, show. As part of my dual training, I am working on a specialty at Turboatom, but I am not limited to this: the department gives quite a great deal of knowledge not only in turbine construction. “

Dmitry, a 2 year student, specialty – Computer Science: “In fact, it is a very useful event and necessary. In principle, it is possible to find everything on the Internet, but it is easier to come, see, listen to representatives of companies: what they offer, without interview, without prior agreement, it is very useful. In my second year I want to find something, my profession allows you to work from an early age.
